Understanding ChatGPT, Advantages & Limitations of ChatGPT

Date: 24-01-2023

Introduction

In this blog, we will be focussing on how ChatGPT is impacting and going to impact Google and Google’s SEO in 2023. This blog shall also provide information about what ChatGPT and OpenAI are for the users unaware of them.

It’s ChatGPT vs. Google, and the world is on the brink of a revolutionary technological revolution. There is no doubt that ChatGPT and OpenAIhas revolutionized the world. The Internet has been inspired by its extraordinary natural language processing capabilities and its accurate responses.

However, OpenAI’s AI chatbots have gained notoriety as “potential Google killers”. Some pundits see it as Google’s ultimate nemesis: the undisputed ruler of the Internet world.

The hype surrounding ChatGPT also raises an existential question for Google. After all, ChatGPT can provide detailed answers to complex questions on the fly. ChatGPT has proven that chat responses generate more users than search-based queries (ChatGPT surpassed 1 million users in its first week of launch).

With ChatGPT surpassing one million users in its first week of release, this raises a key question: Will ChatGPT replace Google? Let’s find out by comparing ChatGPT and Google.

What is Chat GPT?

ChatGPT is an AI-based chatbot trained with the latest GPT 3.5 or pre-trained generative transformer (OpenAI’s generative text AI model). In short, ChatGPT leverages deep machine learning and NLP techniques to provide human-like responses.

The flexibility of ChatGPT lies in its dialog-based interaction. Simply send an SMS to ChatGPT and it will instantly generate a human response to the query. Additionally, the new AI Chatbot, which has been available for free to the public since last November, can answer almost any question users ask. In addition, it can generate code snippets to write poems, scenarios, stories, and even scientific papers.

ChatGPT vs Google

At first glance, ChatGPT and Google seem to share the same goal of answering user queries, but they do it differently. ChatGPT takes a radical approach to human-computer conversational interaction. Google, on the other hand, takes the traditional route: run a query, compare it to billions of web pages, and return the most relevant results. ChatGPT and OpenAI are expected to be Google killers.

Advantages and Limitations of ChatGPT Compared to Google

Since ChatGPT is the one that is doing all the disruption, let’s take a look at the capabilities and advantages of ChatGPT first;

Advantages

ChatGPT lists its features and limitations in the interface, which is easy to get to, but we’ll go into more detail here. The main attraction of ChatGPT is its human-like response. It’s like talking to a real expert. The answers are short and direct.

Another advantage of ChatGPT is the accuracy of the responses. ChatGPT responds to requests as concisely as possible. You can get the answer in as few words as possible. ChatGPT offers simple steps from start to finish. The information-intensive nature of ChatGPT is particularly attractive.

ChatGPT can act as a virtual assistant. You can ask him to write contracts, write poems, plan trips and give you gift ideas. Google doesn’t work that way, so ChatGPT has an advantage here as well.

Limitations

ChatGPT is intuitive but has limitations, some of which have more serious implications.

The main disadvantage of ChatGPT is its data limitation. ChatGPT knows almost nothing. It was trained on a data model limited to 2021. This means that ChatGPT has no idea what is happening in 2022.

ChatGPT has serious accuracy issues. This means that the information you provide cannot be considered accurate. The consequences of these restrictions are important; Therefore, I will devote an entire section later in this article to this topic.

ChatGPT cannot access the Internet. ChatGPT cannot compare the information with more complete or updated information because it does not have access to the Internet. Therefore, the knowledge of ChatGPT is limited. You can only access content that was transferred to you during training.

ChatGPT sometimes provides responses that lack variety. Let’s say you’re not satisfied with the answer and want a different one or modify the query slightly to look for a different answer. However, sometimes ChatGPT comes back with the same response, but no new information.

ChatGPT won’t be free forever. ChatGPT is currently available for free, but Open AI will monetize it sooner or later. After all, creating responses to text prompts requires a lot of resources.

ChatGPT vs Google: Key Points

ChatGPT is the latest innovation from OpenAI, a San Francisco-based research firm that explores artificial intelligence and its real-world applications.

OpenAI’s ChatGPT has received unprecedented attention. Within a week of its launch in November of this year, it surpassed one million users. It accepts text invitations and produces human answers to questions. ChatGPT serves the same purpose as Google, but both platforms are fundamentally different.

ChatGPT is an AI bot that excels in natural language processing and human response. On the other hand, Google is a search engine that retrieves information-related information from billions of websites.

Google vs Chat GPT: Final Verdict

GPTChat is certainly “smart”, but to say it’s smarter than Google, or even as smart as Google, is a bit of a stretch at this point. The questionable accuracy of the responses provided by ChatGPT is its biggest drawback.

This means that it is the user’s responsibility to verify the information, which removes the ease that people attribute to ChatGPT. For example, it might give you a completely made-up answer.

Of course, it can provide concise and clear answers to complex questions, but its limitations cannot support the weights that users expect in all scenarios. For example, the concepts of interest and behavior are foreign to ChatGPT and OpenAI, while Google takes them very seriously.

Likewise, location-based search and recommendations are still a long way off for ChatGPT. However, Google can get hundreds of results based on your location, past preferences, etc., with additional information such as reviews, distance, directions, etc.

Also, you cannot extract real-time information with ChatGPT. When asking about flight times, ChatGPT is useless because it has no internet connection. On the other hand, Google displays the most recent relevant information.

Let’s not forget that ChatGPT is still in its infancy, whereas, Google has ruled for over 20 years. Therefore, ChatGPT can be improved and adapted to this field. I don’t think ChatGPT will replace Google anytime soon.

However, it does show that there is an alternative to ad-based text search. Google is also feeling pressure, and if it doesn’t expand, ChatGPT may pose a real threat to Google’s future dominance.
